02. Part 2: Write a Blog Post
## Part 2: Write a Blog Post
As you’ve heard throughout this course much of marketing is great storytelling. In the first part of this project, you are going to write a blog post. We have two prompts you can choose from to tell your story:
- Why have you decided to take the Digital Marketing Nanodegree Program?
- Choose a successful or creative marketing campaign that you love. What is the story being told by the campaign and why do you love it, why did it catch your attention?
Pick one of the questions and write a post with a minimum of 250 words and maximum of 500 words.
Storytelling Framework
In the Create Content lesson, you learned about two storytelling frameworks – SCQA, also called the Pyramid Principle, and the Pixar framework. After you’ve selected the theme of your blog post, choose one of the two storytelling frameworks your post will follow.
SCQA Framework
As you might recall, SCQA stands for situation, complication, question, and answer.
- The Situation is a clear, crisp statement of the facts. It's the state of affairs as they are right now.
- Complication is the thing that's changed that makes things harder; the change in circumstances that you should be concerned about.
- Question normally falls out of the situation and complication. Like, what should we do?
- And Answer is the answer to this question - it usually resolves the complication.
Pixar Framework
The Pixar framework is from Pixar, a famous storytelling company, responsible for some of the most popular animated movies of all time like Toy Story. Pixar’s stories follow this simple outline.
- Once there was a - usually a protagonist with a goal
- Everyday - describes the protagonist’s routine
- Until one day - something pivotal that changes everything
- Because of that - what follows as a result
- Because of that - what follows as a result
- Until then - the protagonist reaches goal, but often not in the way they originally thought they would
- Ever since then - how the character and their situation has changed.
Add Media to your Post
To make your blog post come to life you might want to include images, videos, or other forms of media. When selecting media you’ll want to make sure that you are compliant with copyright laws. Using visual content you’ve created yourself is a great option and can add a great personal touch. Alternatively, you can find images that don’t require you to pay or reference (‘attribute’) the original creator on sites like Pixabay.
